In 2023 alone, there have been 129 mass shootings so far. Firearms recently surpassed car accidents as the leading cause of death for children in the United States. Every year, tens of thousands of people are killed by gun violence. Even with some of the strictest gun safety laws in the nation, California continues to struggle with gun violence. In a state where 1 in 4 Californians live in a gun owning home, and in a country that has more guns than people, guns are everywhere. Nevertheless, we know that gun safety laws work.
